Mr De Santis met H.E. Mr Ömer Önhon, to discuss the situation in Turkey, the European Union, and the forced migration crisis affecting Europe, Turkey and the Middle East.
Turkey is a regional power and a critical ally in the region for Europe. It is in the interest of the EU and Turkey to develop even closer economic and diplomatic ties for the future”
said Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury International.
On 15 July 2016, a coup d’état was attempted in Turkey against state institutions, including, but not limited to the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The coup failed after forces loyal to the state defeated the rebel faction of the Armed Forces.
Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury International, was interviewed by the largest Chinese independent international broadcaster, Phoenix TV, on Brexit, the upcoming NATO Warsaw Summit and the State of World Affairs.
Brexit causes great concern in China due to the large Chinese investments in UK and Europe. China is the EU’s second trading partner with over 1 billion dollars of daily trade.
On the upcoming NATO Summit, De Santis explained that it has a full agenda. Top priorities for the NATO Warsaw Summit potentially include: the migrant crisis; the Ukraine crisis; future NATO troop deployment in Poland and the Baltics; negotiations with new potential NATO allies (Georgia, Serbia, Ukraine); future NATO (and U.S.) presence in Afghanistan; Islamic State strategy; Libya and the Mediterranean; Cyber warfare and a potential NATO naval fleet in the Black Sea.
NATO Chiefs past and present have supported that NATO prefers the UK to remain in the EU. The European Union is considered a bastion of stability in this very unstable world and now is not the time to create political and economic instability within European countries. If article 50 of the EU Treaties is triggered, it will extend that uncertainty in UK and Europe for decades”
Added Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury International and Founder of BRAND EU.

A sleepless and exhausted Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury International and founder of BRAND EU, the European Union brand Centre, talks to CNBC Italy in front of the UK Houses of Parliament on the Brexit vote and its potential implications.
On Thursday 23 June, the British people turned out in great numbers to vote for the EU referendum. Brexit won, with 51.9 per cent voting to leave the European Union and 48.1 per cent voting to stay. Nicolas De Santis presents his views and analyses the UK’s EU referendum campaign, Brexit and the potential future scenarios and immediate repercussions for Europe and the rest of the world.
There is a lot of uncertainty over what the consequences of Britain’s departure from the European Union will be and how Brexit will change the world, but it’s safe to say that the impact of Brexit will spread beyond the United Kingdom’s borders and will affect markets worldwide.
Said Nicolas De Santis, Founder of BRAND EU and President of Gold Mercury International.
The President of Gold Mercury International, Nicolas De Santis, was featured in the leading Spanish financial newspaper, Cinco Dias.
The article discusses his work on the new LOS40 project, which will transform the international music radio station brand into a digital and entertainment powerhouse. The interview also covers Nicolas De Santis’s work on the BRAND EU Centre and his efforts to avoid Brexit in the UK.
Nicolas De Santis was interviewed by star presenter Javier Del Pino in the ‘A Vivir’ programme, which draws a record audience on weekends.
Del Pino and De Santis discussed the new vision and transformation of LOS40 into a digital entertainment company. The interview also covered Nicolas De Santis’s work on the BRAND EU Centre to re-invent the brand of the EU and his efforts to avoid Brexit in the UK.
Gold Mercury President and BRAND EU founder, Nicolas De Santis, was interviewed on CNBC Italy by anchor Angela Antetomaso to discuss the key issues related to the upcoming EU referendum in the UK.
BRAND EU is the independent brand marketing champion of the EU, acting as a research and communications centre to promote the EU brand in Europe and the world. On the upcoming UK referendum on the EU, Nicolas De Santis said that via its BRAND EU programmes, Gold Mercury International will do everything possible to change the negative image of the EU in the UK.
The negative repercussions of a BREXIT are global and far reaching. It will destabilise economies, international security. BREXIT benefits no one except our enemies. So far we have been successful with BRAND EU in creating a communications base to build a campaign from. Brexit is a possibility as the issue will be put to the vote of the public. One of the biggest issues is that in the UK we have a brutally Eurosceptic media which will stop at nothing to sell papers and influence people in a negative way towards Europe. Hopefully the British public will be able to make their own mind up, do their own research, otherwise, we could be sleepwalking out of the EU and into oblivion. We will do the impossible to avoid it”.
De Santis had previously forecasted in the same CNBC programme in June 2015 on the impossibility of a Grexit saying:
Greece has been lent €240 billion so far and is in a technical bankruptcy, or let’s call it a ‘controlled bankruptcy’. Its lenders need to keep flowing funds into Greece while giving it more time to get its house in order and agree a payment schedule that allows the country manage its internal politics and funding needs. The world does not want a Grexit and neither do the majority of the Greeks”.

Mr De Santis met H.E. Mr Nabil Ammar, to discuss the state of Tunisia, the Arab Region, the European Union, and broader issues of International Affairs and Global Governance.
Tunisia has achieved something unique and exemplifying, not only for the country, the region or the Arab world, but for the whole world. Tunisia has given an important lesson of national unity and sets a path that many regions and parts of the world that are currently in trouble should follow”.
said Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury International.
In December 2010 the fire of the Arab Spring sparked in the Republic of Tunisia. Despite terrorist attacks, Tunisia continues to establish democracy, based on national dialogue and a model of peaceful change.
Embracing the values of freedom, dignity and justice, the country has recently adopted the greatest constitution in its history including many rights for women. Besides, thanks to the successful compromises achieved by the various parties, Tunisia has proved that Islamism and secularism can coexist and even establish a government. As a result, this transition could be defined as a good example of Global Governance, showing that a democratic approach to governance can prevail and work in the Arab world.
Gold Mercury President, Nicolas De Santis met former President of Brasil Lula da Silva in Madrid as part of the Forum of Emerging Markets.
President Lula and Mr De Santis discussed the importance of the EU as a critical actor in global governance. “President Lula understands the miracle of global governance that is the EU. He calls the EU a patrimony of humanity, for its role in bringing peace to Europe and stability to the world” said Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury.
Both aim to meet again in 2016 to discuss and collaborate on think tank activities and the BRAND EU project by Gold Mercury.
Nicolas De Santis gave a class lecture for a course on European Integration at the University of Wyoming of the US.
The European Integration Course is run by Associate Prof. Stephanie Anderson, Dept. of Political Science and Associate Director — Center for Global Studies at the University of Wyoming. The course examines the European Union’s history, institutional structures, formal and informal aspects of politics in Europe, policy areas and explores the positive and negative effects of European integration.
BRAND EU collaborates with academic institutions as part of its core activities in Europe and abroad to promote European integration as a crucial subject of global governance.
The European Union is now regarded as a world power and is going through dramatic changes, including the upcoming IN-OUT UK referendum on the EU. President Obama has just gone on record to say that he wants the UK to stay in the EU. The fact that a US President is openly lobbying for Europe to stay together is a clear message to European politicians about the US expectations for the future of our continent.
The Lecture took place in September.
